Email: Puppy Mills, County laws and fundraising

Here is a link to a fundraiser for puppy mill dogs here, it is something that we are doing to try and help….Puppy Mill fundraiser.

If you take a guy like me, from the country.  I knew what a puppy mill was and I even knew my best buddy had a lot of dogs.  But i was still to naive to realize how big of a problem it is actually is in our country.

Take for example the county that I live in…  The majority of the people that I talk to everyday here in Stevens County do not even know what a Puppy Mill is.  Never mind hearing one word about the busts over on the coast.  I was best friends with a guy who may have been a tool in one of the biggest puppy mills in our countries history and I didn’t even know.  That is really sad on my part.  This is why I am leaning towards education being so important.  These past couple weeks a lot of folks have come forward with information on other operations.  It is GREAT!

This entire thing, with the Puppy Mills, it’s taken my conservative country self and turned me into somewhat of a puppy activist.  Like I said though, my wife and I are not really animal activists, but we are definitely animal lovers.  We have 2 cats, 3 dogs and 4 horses.  We love our animals and treat them as part of our family and we don’t understand how someone could keep dogs locked up in crates the way that puppy millers do it.

I found out tonight that there are some counties in our state that don’t have laws governing the amount of dogs a person can keep, along with this there are no laws governing what conditions the animals are kept in.  I am not a lawyer, but I am guessing if a county does not have the laws, then it goes back to state law.  So we have state laws about animal cruelty, but we don’t have state laws stating the amount of dogs that can be kept.  Does anyone but me see a problem with this?  That’s why it is so important for us to get this new bill approved.  Sure, we may all see it as needing some changes, but it’s a start.  This is America and we are all allowed to speak our mind.  It is what makes our Country so good.   Well that and the 2nd amendment….. My personal favorite :)

Terrah is working on a synopsis so we can compare county laws side by side.  It’s going to be a good way to see what counties have the better laws.  It’s also going to be a good tool to find out who has the worst laws or just none at all.  I think its safe to say after she is done with her article, hell is going to freeze over and we are going to find some government officials to hold accountable for the lack of laws in every county.

The lady that was recently raided for her alleged puppy mill in Standwood has come to our site and posted some comments.  I think you will all find it to be very interesting.  One thing she needs to know,  I am not here to be friends with anymore Puppy Mill people and I dont really have anything nice to say to her.  Follow the link to see her comments.  Register and and post your own comments.  Without anymore ramblings from me, here is the link Scroll down to read comments after the page loads.

WE NEED SOME HELP:
We need some help from you guys and girls.. Mostly girls I think.. but anyway,  We are working on the more permanent design of puppyjustice.com and we want to feature some adopted or rescued dogs.  So if you could reply to this email with an attached photo of your puppy and a story about it.  That would be awesome.  I can’t guarantee how many will go on there, but we will certainly try to get everyone’s puppy on there.  Truth be told, it’s ok if it’s not an adopted puppy.  I just thought it would great for others to see how good of a dog you can get from a rescue.

Also, If you happen to have a website that is animal related.  It could be a blog or any kind of website and would not mind linking to us, that would be super great.  Let myself (Brandon), Terrah, or Shannon know so we can thank you properly.

Couple more things….

If you ever feel like writing and are good at it, unlike me… and if you want to write an article and have it published on the website and then sent out as an email; that would be great.  Just let one of us know or simply just hit reply to this email.

For you folks that live up north in Skagit county we are a bit late sending this, Sorry about that :(
